1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to Social Analytics Desktop, its official website and related local documentation (together, the “Service”). By downloading, configuring or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Social Analytics Desktop is a free, independently maintained, non-professional project. It is not operated as part of a company or commercial activity.
2. The service
The Service is a Windows desktop application that can synchronise authorised TikTok account and publication data through TikTok's official interfaces, store that data locally, and calculate descriptive analytics. It supports multiple independently authorised accounts and keeps their datasets separate.
Analytics are informational. They describe observed data and do not constitute business, financial, legal or professional advice. They do not guarantee audience reach, engagement, revenue or any other result.
3. Eligibility and authority
You must be legally permitted to use the Service and to authorise every account you connect. You may connect only your own TikTok account or an account for which you have clear authority to act. You remain responsible for compliance with TikTok's terms, policies and any law that applies to your use.
4. TikTok connection and permissions
Account connection uses TikTok OAuth. TikTok presents the consent screen and determines which permissions are approved, granted or later revoked. The Service is prepared to request user.info.basic, user.info.profile, user.info.stats and video.list for identity, profile, account statistics and publication synchronisation.
You can refuse authorisation or revoke an existing connection. TikTok may change its API, approval requirements, data fields, quotas or availability at any time. The first approved live OAuth flow and the exact returned-data behaviour remain to be revalidated.
Social Analytics Desktop is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by TikTok.
5. Local data and security
The Service is local-first. Its SQLite database, configuration, analytical history, labels, caches, logs, exports and backups are stored on your computer or in locations you choose. OAuth tokens and configured provider keys are stored in a Windows DPAPI-encrypted secret file.
You are responsible for protecting your Windows account, device, backups and exports. No security measure can eliminate every risk. Do not share credential files, access tokens, provider keys or unredacted diagnostic material.
6. Optional AI features
Optional AI analysis is disabled until you configure a supported provider and deliberately start an analysis. Opening a screen does not trigger an AI request. Before the first transmission, the Service displays a manifest describing the outbound fields and exclusions.
Selected text, statistics or media derivatives may be sent to the configured provider when you confirm the action. TikTok OAuth tokens, AI provider keys, other accounts and the complete local database are excluded from the AI payload. The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to data it receives.
The current implementation accepts only an externally verified zero-cost model path and blocks a request when zero cost cannot be established. This safeguard does not control provider availability, policy changes or future pricing.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use the Service to access an account without permission, bypass TikTok controls, scrape the platform, infringe rights, violate privacy, introduce malicious code, disrupt a service, or engage in unlawful activity. You must not misrepresent analytical output as a guaranteed or causal conclusion.
8. Third-party services
TikTok, any optional AI provider, Cloudflare and other third parties operate independently. Their services, terms, privacy practices, limits and availability are outside the operator's control. Internet access and third-party accounts may be required for the corresponding feature.
The Service is free of charge. You are responsible for ensuring that any external service or internet plan you choose does not create a cost for you.
9. Availability and changes
The Service may be changed, corrected, suspended or discontinued without a promise of continuous availability. Features can depend on operating-system capabilities, optional local software, TikTok approval or external services. Updates may require local database migrations or renewed authorisation.
10. Ownership
The Service, its original interface and its documentation remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law. You retain rights in your own content and data. TikTok names, marks and platform materials belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify interoperability.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or suitable for a particular objective. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect loss, lost opportunities, platform decisions, third-party outages, or loss caused by unauthorised access to your device or your failure to maintain backups.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under French or other applicable mandatory law.
12. Disconnection and deletion
You can stop using the Service at any time. Revoking a TikTok connection removes or invalidates that account's OAuth credentials but does not automatically delete its local analytical history. Local-history deletion is a separate explicit action. Uninstalling the application may also leave the local data directory, backups or exports until you remove them.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law, subject to any mandatory consumer or data-protection rules that apply in your country. The parties should first attempt to resolve a concern in good faith by email before pursuing an available legal remedy.
14. Contact, changes and legal notice
These Terms may be updated when the Service, law or third-party requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
